Hawk Watch at Lake Macbride State Park. *** New location on the Lake Macbride dam, which offers a panoramic view of the Coralville Reservoir, Lake Macbride, and surrounding woods. We’ll watch for migrating raptors including Broad-winged Hawk, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, and Osprey. Bring a lawn chair and a spotting scope if you have one. 

Directions: from Solon,
take Main Street/Hwy. 382 west to its end at Lake Macbride State Park; at the T intersection turn right (sign: Spillway Waterfall) and then right again (sign: Fisheries Station). Go past the boat ramp to the parking lot at the end of the road. Walk south across the lawn and down the steps to the dam.
